Argument Analysis

Writing viable arguments is often based on how well we understand the arguments made by others, in this case our classmates. Summarizing arguments leads to better understanding for readers and also helps authors see how someone unfamiliar with the topic receives her/his argument. If the summary of our partner does not match what we hope they take away from our paper, then we can see specifically what parts of our argument are weak and what we need to improve as we work toward our final papers.

For this assignment you will need to go to the Toulmin Outline Analysis discussion forum, find your review partner, download or read her/his Toulmin essay, and then write a one-page, single-spaced summary of the main argument. Your essay should have a clear introduction, a body (in which you detail the author’s argument) and a conclusion that summarizes the author’s main points. Please be specific in your analysis and write it in a formal, scholarly tone.

Alkhudeir, 3 Naif Alkhudeir ENGL 2010 Prof. Dustin 27 Feb 2017 Toulmin Schema Outline Claim: Why people dislike to choose flying when they travel. There are people who fear of flying and there are people think flying is unaffordable. Some people have bad experience with flying. Flying is the best way to travel and the fastest way. There are certain ways to make flying so easier and affordable. Reasons: There are two type of people who don’t like to fly. First the people who fear from flying, sometimes they got sick and some of them don’t like to be in small or closed area for amount of time. The second is the people choose not to fly because it is expensive and they can save money when they travel by car for example. Assumptions: some People can don’t have the knowledge when they decide flying is danger, for instance people got scared when there is a turbulence but they don’t know that the turbulence don’t effect the aircraft and it is not danger, in addition to that, the airline transportation the safest way to travel, there are not many accredits happened during the past 10 or 20 years. People also can find good deals on traveling by airplane and makes the travel cheaper on the seasons. Backing: flying is the safest way to travel in the world, the airlines are working so hard to make it so easy and comfortable, but that doesn’t mean that they decrease the safety, the technology are now is growing and everything that the aircraft need they installed on it. More than 80 % to 85% of the accidents for the aircraft is caused by human factor not the airplane made it, and that is why there is a class called Crew Resource Management or (CRM), so they teach the mistakes to the pilots so they don’t do it during their career in the airline. The airplanes are made so they can fly in the worst thunderstorms and bad weather without any effect. For the people who think flying is very expensive, now there is economic airlines that serve regional destinations with low prices that people can book and travel with these airlines. But the bigger airlines specially that they have international and ling destinations could be expensive, but they have a seasons that the prices go down or they make a great deal for the passengers. In addition to the rewords that the airline company gave it to the travelers. For example, Saudi Arabian Airlines give the traveler who traveled with the company more than five times an upgrade to business or first class which is good deal and a lot of rewords. Conditions of Rebuttal: People say still it is not that safe when you be on 37,000 feet and what happened if the aircraft lost all of engines? It is simple the engines are only give the aircraft to move, if the aircraft lost all its engine on high altitude, the aircraft can glide and travel between 150 to 250 miles without engine and land safely. The people always think the if the engines is lost they are going to die which is bad and wrong view. Qualifier: Flying is the most efficient way to travel, even if there are accidents happened in the past but it is the safest way to travel. The aviation industry now is in growing to make is more safety, easy, and comfortable. There are many airlines that can afford low price ticket for reginal and short flight time even if its international. Also there are some ways can the people who fear from flying do to prevent the air sick and the fear from high elevation and be safe when they fly. 3
